I survived Lilly Pulitzer for Target! Whew, that was something. I’m not a Black Friday shopper, so Pink Sunday really did me in. After the racks were cleared I went home and, just like the Target website, I crashed.
I was too excited to sleep on Saturday night so I periodically checked the website starting at midnight. I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve again! I saw on Instagram that people were placing orders somewhere between 2:15-2:45 but I still couldn’t get in. When I finally did get in, I could add things to the cart but couldn’t check out. I just kept refreshing, and was able to place a few separate orders. I’m trying not to get too excited about the online orders until I have shipping confirmations—because with the way Target has been you never know. I’m constantly checking to see if my orders have been shipped and keeping my fingers crossed.
Since I was up anyway, I drove by my local Target at 6:30 am. No one was in line yet, and I needed coffee so I made a quick caffeine trip. By the time I got back, the line was about 15-20 people deep. Crap, I was RIGHT HERE just a minute ago and COULD HAVE been first in line. I figured getting anything at this point wouldn’t be likely.
When they opened the doors, I ran like a mad woman. Seriously, if I’d known this is what I was training for I would have worked a little harder in the gym. First, I hit the wall of purses (our store got ONE in each color) and pulled the green tote, a headwrap and a couple of nail files. All the scarves were already gone. Next, the dresses and I scored the pink one. It has to be altered but it’s so pretty and I can’t wait to wear it. I ran over to the home section and grabbed a package of napkins and the Boom Boom beach towel. While I didn’t get everything I wanted, I love everything I got and know I was really lucky since so many people weren’t able to buy anything.
Below, my in-store scores, minus the beach towel!
Were you able to get your hands on any Lilly for Target? Xo, dCv
We’re already halfway through this week! January is flying!
So many people resolve to get active after New Year’s that this is the best time of the year to stock up on workout clothes! The C9 by Champion line at Target is my favorite. I have a few Under Armor pieces, some Nike, and a pair of Adidas capris but C9 is my go-to because it’s affordable, colorful, and holds up well. Target is having a sale on C9 this week, so if you’re active like I am you should check it out! Below, some of my picks:
Seamless 1/4 Zip Pullover
I have three of these pullovers and they’re great for that in-between weather when it’s too cold for just a short sleeve top but too warm for a fleece, or they work well as a layering piece when it is really cold.
Women’s Woven Pant
I bought these pants off the clearance rack (score!) and like the 1/4 zip, they are versatile for warmer weather or layering in colder weather. These are really lightweight but do a decent job of keeping the wind off if you’re running outside.
Short Sleeve Performance Tee
I have a few of these as well. The fabric really does wick away the sweat. I had forgotten how well they worked and wore a regular t-shirt to run in one day and could really tell the difference!
I really like the color pop at the bottom of these capris!
I did notice that the prices differ somewhat online vs. in the store.
Hope you all have a great and ACTIVE rest of the week!
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Mine was a busy one, with a commencement ceremony on Saturday (pics of what I wore coming later this week!), planting our garden, a Netflix mini marathon (Big Love) and of course all of the usual chores.
I love being comfy on the weekends! Below, my outfits from the past two days:
T-shirt, shorts, and wedge sandals, J. Crew Factory; Fedora, Target
Pineapple t-shirt, Kohls; shorts and earrings J. Crew Factory; sandals, Tory Burch.
Hello everyone and welcome back to my little corner of the internet!
I had a snow day on Monday and while I was at home in my comfy pj’s I couldn’t help but browse the internet for pretty spring stuff! My mantra about spring is “If I dress for it, it will come!” . Below, my current wish list:
Merona ponte shift dress
I love this beautiful green. It will be great with jackets or cardigans until the temps start to rise and then I’ll wear it all by itself!
Kate Spade Carousel Bangle
I love this beautiful watch in Gold Confetti! So happy and fun!
Isaac Mizrahi New York Mindy2
THESE shoes. Perfect for Easter and jazzing up all of my neutral summer dresses! Plus, there’s a bow.
Gazing longingly at spring clothes has always been my go-to when the weather outside is frightful.
As I mentioned in my last post, I love scouring Pinterest for outfit inspiration. But most of those outfits end up being something for casual Friday, or the weekend since I spend 40 hours a week in work attire. Jeans are only for Fridays in my office. Some mornings (and I am not a morning person!) it’s tough to find a cute, creative, office-appropriate outfit.
If y’all are anything like me, you spend a lot of time on Pinterest! I had been making inspiration boards for years, you know, on actual cork boards but then Pinterest came along and kicked it up a notch!
I recently switched offices in my building and I wanted to do something different. I started to notice a theme– gold and girly.

Unfortunately I can’t paint my office wall with gold dots, so mine will have to be a little more low-key.
I started searching around my house for anything I could use. Before I moved in with my husband, I had lots of girly stuff. Since I got married I try not to suffocate my husband with pink all over our home. I actually found this Isaac Mizrahi print (several years old, possibly from Target) and this pink bow frame ( also several years old, a T.J. Maxx find) in a storage box. They were both in my apartment at one time or another, so I was happy I could find a new use for them!
I picked up the larger gold frame at Target (for .98!!) and used it to frame a “Keep Calm” greeting card in gold, and the other gold frame (still in need of a photo) at Michael’s. Notepads and notecards in gold stripe are from the “One Spot” at Target.
On top of the bookcase
I found the gold bucket and frames at Target (frames are several years old) and the silk flowers are from Michael’s.
The previous owner of my office left me with two big nails in the wall–no problem! The Eiffel Tower print is from my old college apartment and I actually made the gold dot print canvas. That is as close as I can get to having gold dots on my wall!
All in all I was pretty pleased with how my office turned out, and really happy that I could find a new use for some old items!!
It’s time to relax, sit back, and pour yourself a drink! My personal favorite is a Southern Spiked Sweet Tea. This drink always makes me think of warm breezes and relaxing on the porch, even if it’s 20 degrees outside! I just shake 2 oz. of Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka with 8 oz. of lemonade. I usually try to make fresh lemonade, but if I’m feeling lazy Simple Lemon does the job! Pour over ice and garnish with a lemon wedge and mint leaves if desired.

And of course we couldn’t have Friday without a casual outfit!
Jeans and sweatshirt, J. Crew; Button down, Target; Flats, Tory Burch.
I’m dying to break out my spring clothes. It’s been warmer here all week, so if I can’t wear short sleeves yet I’ll at least wear some bright colors!
It’s no secret that I love Target. On a random grocery run, I noticed this beauty and remarked to my husband that it looked so much like the one from J. Crew. It’s quite the statement maker, but still elegant and classic. I have eyed the J. Crew bracelet for months but just couldn’t press “add to bag” at that price. J.Crew classic pave link braclet, $125; Target pave link bracelet, $20.
Hello all! I’m back and blogging after a rough week with the computer….I’ve missed you all!
I hope everyone has had a great weekend and a Happy Memorial Day!
I spent my weekend in full relaxation mode–lounge pants, vegging out, watching movies, reading in the sunshine, and of course spending time with my family! I really needed a nice little vacation from work and stress.
I’m re-reading The Prince of Tides. Pat Conroy is my all-time favorite author. I read this book in college and decided that I’d go through it again this summer. Even though I know what happens, Pat Conroy just has that magical way with words that I cannot put down.
On to what you came here for–some outfits and shopping!
I was in Target to get a few essentials (read: Blue Moon and an orange!) and I saw some great stuff on sale!
I’m really excited about this tote bag! First of all, it’s navy and I love navy! It’s dressy enough to be a “work bag” but is still simple and casual for the weekend. Plus, it was only $20 in store! Here’s the link but unfortunately it’s still full price online.
I think this is my new favorite top. I love the print and the silky feel of it. It makes me feel like I’m actually on a tropical vacation somewhere. It was way too cold here to hit the beach, so this is as close as I could get!
Blouse, Tommy Hilfiger; Crops, Ann Taylor; Necklace, Banana Republic; Clutch, Target; Wedges, J. Crew Factory.
This week has been a little crazy, but GREAT! I’ve stretched out celebrating my birthday as much as I can, so I guess it’s back to the real world for me now.
I went home to Luray last weekend and my family took me out for an early birthday dinner. We went to the Speakeasy, a little restaurant and bar that’s part of the Mimslyn Inn.

My sister, mom, and me on the front steps
I had a wonderful visit at home. Lots of laughing with my sister is the best thing in the world. It’s the strangest thing though: When I was little I suffered from terrible allergies. Like miss-school-for-weeks allergies. And now when I go visit, nothing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful my eyes no longer swell shut, but it’s just strange that it doesn’t affect me at all now!
Who’s ready for Casual Friday???
Blouse, Ann Taylor Factory; Jeans, Loft; Wedges, Nina; Necklace, Target.
I get excited for the rare occassions I can take photos outside. It has rained so much and stays so cloudy. But today is gogeous so I took advantage!
I fell for this necklace the second I saw it! It reminds me of a (way cheaper version!!) Kate Spade necklace I saw last year. I love the colors and I love that it’s nice and long! I couldn’t find it online, so check your local stores!
