Lilly Pulitzer for Target

Hey y’all! Welcome back!

I survived Lilly Pulitzer for Target! Whew, that was something. I’m not a Black Friday shopper, so Pink Sunday really did me in.  After the racks were cleared I went home and, just like the Target website, I crashed.

I was too excited to sleep on Saturday night so I periodically checked the website starting at midnight. I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve again! I saw on Instagram that people were placing orders somewhere between 2:15-2:45 but I still couldn’t get in. When I finally did get in, I could add things to the cart but couldn’t check out. I just kept refreshing, and was able to place a few separate orders. I’m trying not to get too excited about the online orders until I have shipping confirmations—because with the way Target has been you never know. I’m constantly checking to see if my orders have been shipped and keeping my fingers crossed.

Since I was up anyway, I drove by my local Target at 6:30 am. No one was in line yet, and I needed coffee so I made a quick caffeine trip. By the time I got back, the line was about 15-20 people deep. Crap, I was RIGHT HERE just a minute ago and COULD HAVE been first in line. I figured getting anything at this point wouldn’t be likely.

When they opened the doors, I ran like a mad woman. Seriously, if I’d known this is what I was training for I would have worked a little harder in the gym. First, I hit the wall of purses (our store got ONE in each color) and pulled the green tote, a headwrap and a couple of nail files. All the scarves were already gone. Next, the dresses and I scored the pink one. It has to be altered but it’s so pretty and I can’t wait to wear it. I ran over to the home section and grabbed a package of napkins and the Boom Boom beach towel. While I didn’t get everything I wanted, I love everything I got and know I was really lucky since so many people weren’t able to buy anything.

Below, my in-store scores, minus the beach towel!

Loving at Talbots

Hello all and welcome back!

It’s been quite a week around here with lots and lots of snow and ice. I’ve been perusing all the spring catalogs I got in the mail and I love so many of the new arrivals at Talbots.

Valentine’s Day–For the Guys

Welcome back!

I wouldn’t leave you hanging without a gift guide for the gentleman in your life! Men can be tough to shop for. There are only so many power tools one garage can hold! Here are a few ideas:

I know my husband would really like the whiskey decanter! A subscription to a magazine you know he reads is a great surprise.Who can resist the heart print boxers? They’re a steal!

Valentine’s Day

Hello all!
It’s that time of year again–Valentine’s Day!

I rounded up a few cute things in case you’re in need of some ideas!

Valentine's Day

I don’t expect anything extravagant for V-Day, but a small token of affection is always welcome! I especially like the card that says “I hate everyone but you”. My husband would love it!

What are you hoping to get this Valentine’s Day?

Loving Lately–January

Hello all and welcome back!!

Hope you’re all having a fabulous week! I don’t know about you guys, but January is a tough month for me–the holidays and time off work are both over, it’s cold and bleak, and spring seems far away. It’s the little things that put some pep back in my step, and  I wanted to share a few things I am currently loving!

Jan faves

1) These simple gold bar earrings– I bought a similar pair at Banana Republic Factory last week and they are a nice change from studs. I love the small and simple trend!

2) Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream– my sister gave me a beautiful boxed set with different scents for Christmas and I love how fresh the lavender one smells!

3)These pretty print J. Crew Factory flats combine two things I love–florals and bows!

4) Look at this wonderful pink tote from Target! I’ve been looking for the right pink because all of the “blush” that’s out there isn’t really my favorite. This fits the bill! Can’t believe it’s from Target!

5) I love stationary, notebooks and blank notecards. I keep a journal and this gold is too pretty to pass up!

6) Essie nail polish in Ladylike–I found this polish in my drawer and can’t believe I haven’t worn it more! It’s a mauve-lavender and a nice neutral. I think it’s discontinued but still available on Amazon!

What are you loving right now?

Pin-Spired

Hey y’all! Welcome back!

Hope your week is off to a great start!

If you’re anything like me, you spend hours on Pinterest. I just find so much inspiration! I’m constantly pinning outfits I want to re-create, crafts I want to make, and recipes to try.

Lots of camouflage pants have recently been making their way through my home feed. Like this:

Despite growing up surrounded by camo, I didn’t actually own any of my own until this past year. I bought a pair of camouflage pants on a whim last year at Loft but had only worn them once. I’ve been trying to wear more of the things that hide in the back of my closet, so here goes!

Pants, Loft; Button down, Ann Taylor; Sweatshirt, Old Navy; Pumps, Nine West; bag, Express; Sunglasses, Tory Burch

While I liked to casualness of the pins I wanted to take these up a notch, so I dressed them up with a button down, pumps, and a structured bag.

I could get away with wearing this to work because my office is fairly casual. I’ve seen a few camo pencil skirts, and those would be cute too!

Hope you’re all having a good week!

See you soon!

What to Wear to Work–When it’s Freezing

Hello All! Welcome Back!

It’s officially cold here in Williamsburg, Virginia. Finally! It is January after all. It’s not snowing, but it feels like it could start any minute.

What to wear, what to wear? It’s freezing, my office will be freezing, and I can’t imagine getting out of my pajamas and braving the wind and cold. Below is a look that is my go-to–slim black pants, a button down and sweater combo– updated with a warm puffer vest. Add some booties (it’s too cold for flats!) and you’re ready to go. The clothes are all Ann Taylor Loft and I actually bought this plaid vest in store. It was marked down with an extra 60% off, plus I had a rewards card to use so it was on super-duper sale.

Stay warm, friends!

Casual on Repeat

 Welcome Back!!

I’m still on my casual kick, as you can see. Neutrals are just so nice!

I just picked up this Paris tee from J. Crew Factory. I totally want to tuck it into a big tulle skirt. I recently discovered Frankie chinos at the Factory store (similar to the Andie chinos in the retail store) and they are my favorite pants ever. Period. EVER. They are super comfortable and just the right length for flats or wedges. They are soft and don’t get saggy by the end of the day. To me, they are so much more comfotable than jeans so if I can’t wear my PJ pants, I’ll be wearing the Frankie chino! I have purchased all of the colors except the khaki (khaki is a hard thing to wear if you have big hips) and the dark purple color.

What are you loving right now?

Scallops and Gold

Welcome back, y’all!

Last week I told you I attended a commencement ceremony and wanted to share the dressy look I wore!  I work for a college, and we held our graduation ceremony last weekend (inside, thankfully!)

Graduations are really special events and it’s hard to know what to wear to them. I bought this scalloped dress a while back and when planning my outfit for the ceremony it was my first thought.

These earrings are my favorite!

These earrings are my favorite!

These earrings were love at first sight for me! I have worn them about 4 times already this week! They go with way more than I thought they would, and I have gotten a lot of compliments on them!

As with most big events, I like to go simple. It helps people see you, not just your outfit! A solid sheath and metallic shoes and a clutch is my go-to look.

What’s your go-to for dressier events?

Wear-to-Work Wednesday

Hi y’all!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week! I’m bringing you another office friendly look today!  My office has a relaxed summer dress code, meaning we can wear sandals, capris, etc. Jeans are still only on Fridays. I do often wear my Jack Rogers or Tory Burch sandals to work, but sometimes it’s nice to dress up a little more. If I’m really lacking motivation, sometimes the right outfit will help me get in the spirit (I do the same trick with gym clothes! If I dress for it, it will come!).

I’ve gotten a lot of wear out of this pink blouse! It’s cute with jeans, but I love it most with navy or white pants.

What are you wearing to work today?
