Pin-Spired

Hello all and welcome back!

I’m back today with another Pinterest-inspired outfit. This pin has been on my “Fall/Winter Fashion” board for a while.

Pinterest really helps me shop my own closet. When I’m drawing a blank about what to wear, I refer back to my Pinterest boards, pick something, and then do my best to re-assemble the look or one like it; it is usually not exactly the same as what I’ve pinned.  This one is pretty close, but I didn’t have a maroon pencil skirt so I substituted pants.

imageThis gray leather bag is also from J. Crew Factory and I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how much the gray goes with! I purposely bought a smaller bag in an effort to “lighten the load” on my shoulder and back (I tend to carry my whole life in a bag if it’s big enough!)

What has you “Pin-Spired” lately?

Loving Lately–January

Hello all and welcome back!!

Hope you’re all having a fabulous week! I don’t know about you guys, but January is a tough month for me–the holidays and time off work are both over, it’s cold and bleak, and spring seems far away. It’s the little things that put some pep back in my step, and  I wanted to share a few things I am currently loving!

Jan faves

1) These simple gold bar earrings– I bought a similar pair at Banana Republic Factory last week and they are a nice change from studs. I love the small and simple trend!

2) Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream– my sister gave me a beautiful boxed set with different scents for Christmas and I love how fresh the lavender one smells!

3)These pretty print J. Crew Factory flats combine two things I love–florals and bows!

4) Look at this wonderful pink tote from Target! I’ve been looking for the right pink because all of the “blush” that’s out there isn’t really my favorite. This fits the bill! Can’t believe it’s from Target!

5) I love stationary, notebooks and blank notecards. I keep a journal and this gold is too pretty to pass up!

6) Essie nail polish in Ladylike–I found this polish in my drawer and can’t believe I haven’t worn it more! It’s a mauve-lavender and a nice neutral. I think it’s discontinued but still available on Amazon!

What are you loving right now?

Weekend Casual

Hello all! Welcome back!

I’ve been staying casual as much as possible lately! It’s much too hot for anything else.

I bought this T-shirt at J. Crew Factory a few weeks ago and I’ve been living in it. I actually sized up so it would be loose and comfy. I know I’m way behind, but I bought my first crossbody bag this past week and I love it! I’ve always been a structured satchel kind of woman but I wanted a hands-free option for running errands. I only wish I had jumped on the bandwagon earlier!

Have a great weekend y’all!

Scallops and Gold

Welcome back, y’all!

Last week I told you I attended a commencement ceremony and wanted to share the dressy look I wore!  I work for a college, and we held our graduation ceremony last weekend (inside, thankfully!)

Graduations are really special events and it’s hard to know what to wear to them. I bought this scalloped dress a while back and when planning my outfit for the ceremony it was my first thought.

These earrings are my favorite!

These earrings were love at first sight for me! I have worn them about 4 times already this week! They go with way more than I thought they would, and I have gotten a lot of compliments on them!

As with most big events, I like to go simple. It helps people see you, not just your outfit! A solid sheath and metallic shoes and a clutch is my go-to look.

What’s your go-to for dressier events?

Wear-to-Work Wednesday

Hi y’all!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week! I’m bringing you another office friendly look today!  My office has a relaxed summer dress code, meaning we can wear sandals, capris, etc. Jeans are still only on Fridays. I do often wear my Jack Rogers or Tory Burch sandals to work, but sometimes it’s nice to dress up a little more. If I’m really lacking motivation, sometimes the right outfit will help me get in the spirit (I do the same trick with gym clothes! If I dress for it, it will come!).

I’ve gotten a lot of wear out of this pink blouse! It’s cute with jeans, but I love it most with navy or white pants.

What are you wearing to work today?

OOTD–Spring Transitions

Hey y’all! Welcome back!

Oh my goodness, what a difference a few days of nice weather makes! It’s been 50-60 degrees everyday since Saturday. It changes my whole mindset and mood! I’ve always found winter depressing. This year it wasn’t until the past few weeks that I really started to feel it–that lethargic, grumpy feeling that you just can’t explain. The Winter Blahs. It turns me into a lazy, boring person who just wants to sleep all day and avoid social interaction. I have made sure that no matter what is going on, I’ve gotten outside for at least an hour each day to soak up some sunshine!

This is also that fun time of year when we start to transition our wardrobes. I like to rely on sweaters in spring colors and nautical-inspired looks to help my wardrobe bridge that gap .

Nautical

P.S. I found a few nautical goodies at Old Navy I just had to share with you all!

Fabulous Friday!

Happy Friday!

It’s time to relax, sit back, and pour yourself a drink! My personal favorite is a Southern Spiked Sweet Tea. This drink  always makes me think of warm breezes and relaxing on the porch, even if it’s 20 degrees outside!   I just shake 2 oz. of Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka with 8 oz. of lemonade. I usually try to make fresh lemonade, but if I’m feeling lazy Simple Lemon does the job! Pour over ice and garnish with a lemon wedge and mint leaves if desired.

And of course we couldn’t have Friday without a casual outfit!

I’m dying to break out my spring clothes. It’s been warmer here all week, so if I can’t wear short sleeves yet I’ll at least wear some bright colors!

Have a Happy Friday y’all!

Falling for Dots

I love how it can go dressy for a party or with a blouse underneath for work.

Splurge or Save

Splurge or Save

Happy Friday all!! I hope everyone has had a great week!

Since I love a bargain, I wanted to a do another Splurge or Save. Target really has it out for J. Crew, y’all. They’re making similar style t-shirts, shoes, and jewelry at a more affordable price point. These pumps are another example. I usually go for a more classic stiletto heel but these chunky pumps are so cute!

I have to point out that there’s definitley a difference in quality here–the J. Crew version are calf hair and the Target version are printed fabric.  If you’re looking to make the investment, go for it! But if you’re just looking to test drive the trend, Target’s version will suffice! J. Crew Etta calf-hair pump, $350; Target Merona Meg Pump, $30.

Hope everyone has a wonderuful weekend!

Splurge Or Save

Splurge Or Save

It’s no secret that I love Target.  On a random grocery run, I noticed this beauty and remarked to my husband that it looked so much like the one from J. Crew.  It’s quite the statement maker, but still elegant and classic. I have eyed the J. Crew bracelet for months but just couldn’t press “add to bag” at that price.  J.Crew classic pave link braclet, $125; Target pave link bracelet, $20.
