Hello! Welcome back!
Photo-heavy post to follow!
I love New Year’s because it is like the first page in a new notebook….blank. A clean slate. A time to start over. A time to make changes. 2015 is just ahead and I am excited about what it will hold!
2014 was overall a really wonderful year. My husband started a new job in Richmond this past year. No more 3am mornings or super long commutes! Though he sure stays busy, he is enjoying his work and doing a great job.
My mom and I started off our year right at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia for a pageant weekend.
We took Cole on his first trip to Luray in February and he loved all the wide open space!
I celebrated my 30th birthday with my husband, sister, and close friend Michael.
We took a family vacation to St. Augustine, Florida in June.
My friends and I discovered our artistic capabilities at PaintNite!
We celebrated my parents’ birthdays with lunch and exploring Skyline Drive.
I’ve enjoyed numerous get-togethers with family, friends and wonderful co-workers this year.
The wonderful people in my life are what have made this such a great year and have helped me get through the not-so-wonderful times.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is credited with saying “Into each life some rain must fall”. Sadly, our Golden Retriever Cole passed away in late August. He was 10 years old. It is hard to put into words just how much we miss him. My heart still hurts over losing him. I KNOW we were lucky to have him as long as we did and that we were lucky to catch the cancer the first time. I always said we got a bonus year with him. Although our love for him never changed, we certainly appreciated him more after the first cancer scare. We were much more “in the moment” with him, because any moment could easily have been our last. He loved being the center of attention, and he was definitely the center of our family.
I’ve had joy and I’ve had tears in 2014. I’m thankful for the memories I’ve made. Now it’s onto a new year with all the possibilities in the world !
