Welcome back everyone! Hope your week is going well.
Recently I sat on my sister’s back porch, looking out into the country fields, having a beer and talking about life. We jumped on the trampoline like we were kids again ( it took all of 5 minutes for me to be out of breath. I don’t remember jumping on the trampoline being exercise when I was young!) We both long for a simpler existence. There is simply too much white noise out there for me.
Technology sucks the life out of me. Who wants to be connected all the time? I sure don’t. Yet it’s a habit– I go home, immediately turn on the TV, and plop down in front of it. I don’t even really enjoy what I’m watching. Hell, I don’t really even pay attention to what I’m watching–I’m too busy Facebooking on my phone. What I have just described is not living–it’s wasting time that I’ll never get back. And I’m done with it!
While I’m not going totally off the grid–yet, anyway–I am making a concerted effort to shut out the pointless stuff. I declared this week “No TV” week and I don’t miss it one bit. There is nothing on that TV that will make my life better for having watched it. I’ve spent my time exercising, taking my dog out for rides, reading, and relaxing. And my life is fuller for having done it!
The phone is a little harder to escape. I mean, it’s with me all day long. Emails, Facebook notifications, texts, ringringring! Since I’m not at a point in my life where I can totally shut my phone off, I’ve simply shut it down after work hours. And it feels awesome! Like I’ve been set free from something I didn’t even know was holding me in captivity!
I encourage everyone to give it a shot–even if it’s just for one evening–turn off the TV and do something you enjoy! Read a few chapters of a book or have an actual conversation with someone.
Have a wonderful rest of the week!
Tee, Pants, and necklace, J. Crew Factory; bag, Fossil; loafers, Nine West.
I’m still on my casual kick, as you can see. Neutrals are just so nice!
I just picked up this Paris tee from J. Crew Factory. I totally want to tuck it into a big tulle skirt. I recently discovered Frankie chinos at the Factory store (similar to the Andie chinos in the retail store) and they are my favorite pants ever. Period. EVER. They are super comfortable and just the right length for flats or wedges. They are soft and don’t get saggy by the end of the day. To me, they are so much more comfotable than jeans so if I can’t wear my PJ pants, I’ll be wearing the Frankie chino! I have purchased all of the colors except the khaki (khaki is a hard thing to wear if you have big hips) and the dark purple color.
What are you loving right now?
Hello all! Welcome back!
I’ve been staying casual as much as possible lately! It’s much too hot for anything else.
I bought this T-shirt at J. Crew Factory a few weeks ago and I’ve been living in it. I actually sized up so it would be loose and comfy. I know I’m way behind, but I bought my first crossbody bag this past week and I love it! I’ve always been a structured satchel kind of woman but I wanted a hands-free option for running errands. I only wish I had jumped on the bandwagon earlier!
Have a great weekend y’all!
Welcome back y’all!
I hope you had a great holiday weekend!
I had three days off and I needed every last moment of that time! Tropical storm/hurricane Arthur sent some rain our way, so we didn’t end up doing a lot for the 4th. My husband and I relish an opportunity to stay in our pajamas all day with no guilt. While I won’t share my PJ look with you, I will post a few of my most recent OOTD’s!
White jeans, necklace, and sandals, J. Crew Factory; Button down, Talbots.
I love white jeans. In fact, I love them so much I may finally break that old rule of wearing them after Labor Day! That rule was written before global warming, so, yeah.
Pants and tank, J. Crew Factory; Cardigan, Target; Necklace, Lilly pulitzer; Wedges, Tommy Hilfiger.
You’ve probably noticed that many of my outfits either have sleeves or I’m wearing a cardigan. That’s because my office is FREEZING. As in, I often put on a second sweater when I get there. I guess that’s better than the alternative?! I hate sweating so I’ll just put on more clothes.
Hope your week is off to a great start!
Hope everyone has a happy and safe Independence Day!
Happy Hump Day! The weekend is now in sight!
I’ve been perusing my Style Guide and the J. Crew site and I am loving the latest collection! They have some gorgeous pieces for summer. Here are some of my favorites:
Embroidered pom-pom tank, $98
It comes in a dress version too! Not sure which one I like more!
Sophie Crossbody bag, $228
Scallop crepe dress, on sale for $119. I love this one!
Italian matte gold-trim tank, $125, and currently an extra 40% off. This is so chic!
So gorgeous! Perfect for all seasons. Viv mirror metallic blow flat, $228.
Normally with J. Crew, I like to scout out my favorites and then wait for a sale. I think most J. Crewers do this, actually. Because it WILL go on sale. And then I WILL be kicking myself for not waiting.
What’s on your wish list right now?
