Welcome back, y’all!
Last week I told you I attended a commencement ceremony and wanted to share the dressy look I wore! I work for a college, and we held our graduation ceremony last weekend (inside, thankfully!)
Graduations are really special events and it’s hard to know what to wear to them. I bought this scalloped dress a while back and when planning my outfit for the ceremony it was my first thought.
Scallop dress and earrings, J. Crew Factory; Gold wedges, J. Crew; clutch, Express.
These earrings are my favorite!
These earrings were love at first sight for me! I have worn them about 4 times already this week! They go with way more than I thought they would, and I have gotten a lot of compliments on them!
As with most big events, I like to go simple. It helps people see you, not just your outfit! A solid sheath and metallic shoes and a clutch is my go-to look.
What’s your go-to for dressier events?
I took this photo in Manteo, NC.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Phillipians 4: 6-7
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week! I’m bringing you another office friendly look today! My office has a relaxed summer dress code, meaning we can wear sandals, capris, etc. Jeans are still only on Fridays. I do often wear my Jack Rogers or Tory Burch sandals to work, but sometimes it’s nice to dress up a little more. If I’m really lacking motivation, sometimes the right outfit will help me get in the spirit (I do the same trick with gym clothes! If I dress for it, it will come!).
Pink Lace blouse and gold wedges, J. Crew; Navy Pants, Talbots; necklace, Kate Spade.
I’ve gotten a lot of wear out of this pink blouse! It’s cute with jeans, but I love it most with navy or white pants.
What are you wearing to work today?
Happy Monday all!
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Mine was a busy one, with a commencement ceremony on Saturday (pics of what I wore coming later this week!), planting our garden, a Netflix mini marathon (Big Love) and of course all of the usual chores.
I love being comfy on the weekends! Below, my outfits from the past two days:
T-shirt, shorts, and wedge sandals, J. Crew Factory; Fedora, Target
Pineapple t-shirt, Kohls; shorts and earrings J. Crew Factory; sandals, Tory Burch.
What’s your favorite weekend outfit?
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
I have a confession: I’d rather be reading than doing almost anything else (including shopping! gasp). I was always that kid that couldn’t wait for school to be out for the summer so I could start the public library’s summer reading contest. Another confession: College took a lot of the fun out of reading! When you have so much material that you’re required to read, you stop reading for pleasure.
Post college, I’ve gotten back into the habit of reading 2-3 books each month. I’m open to just about anything, but southern literature is my favorite. Here’s what’s on my reading list for this month:
The Island, by Elin Hilderbrand–about the women in a family escaping to their own “island” for some quality time together
Men and Dogs, by Katie Crouch– a woman heads home to Charleston to try to make sense of her past.
The Hurrican Sisters, by Dorothea Benton Frank–she’s one of my favorites!
Are there any other book worms out there? What are y’all reading this summer?
I hope y’all are enjoying the summer so far. After the winter we had, I thought summer would never come! Now it’s here and it’s 90 degrees (+) outside everyday. We all swore we wouldn’t complain– but dang, it’s hot outside!
Life has been busy as usual. The hubs and I just got back from a weeklong vacation in Florida, which was incredible!
St. Augustine, Florida
We stopped in Orlando first to visit with my brothers and sister in law, and our neice, then spent the week in St. Augustine.
We stayed in a gorgeous house for the week, with a pool and wonderful screened-in porch. We grilled out, sunbathed, and just enjoyed having no where to be and nothing we had to do! We spent the majority of our vacation out there. Cole especially enjoyed the pool!

This vacation was just what I needed. I was really able to clear my head and fully relax. I can’t tell you how long it has been since I have been able to completely relax! I think people fall into two vacation camps; those who want to do nothing, and those who want to go out and do everything. The hubs and I fall into the former category!
Wish I were still here…
What are your vacation plans this summer?
