Splurge or Save

Welcome back, y’all! Hope everyone is having a beautiful week!

I. CAN’T.STOP.SHOPPING. Or rather, I don’t wan’t to! I love fall, and there are so many gorgeous things in stores right now!

I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest, and I love the look in this photo:

Gorgeous, classic, very Olivia Palermo (my fashion idol). I wanted to re-create this look, and a budget version also.

My Splurge pick is from J. Crew Factory store:

Factory Jewel Collar Oxford Shell, $79.50

Factory Jewel Collar Oxford Shell, $79.50

Not a bad price by any means. I personally like that it’s sleeveless, since I’m just going to layer it anyway.

My Save pick is from Kohls:

Elle Embellished Ruffle Shirt, $24.50

Elle Embellished Ruffle Shirt, $24.50

The J. Crew Factory pick is dry clean and the Kohl’s version is hand wash only. Either of these fabulous blouses would look stunning under a blazer or under a colorful sweater. I also like the idea of wearing it under a sheath dress. You won’t need a necklace and the stones will light up your face!

Happy shopping y’all! Let me know which one you choose!

Splurge or Save

Splurge or Save

Happy Friday all!! I hope everyone has had a great week!

Since I love a bargain, I wanted to a do another Splurge or Save. Target really has it out for J. Crew, y’all. They’re making similar style t-shirts, shoes, and jewelry at a more affordable price point. These pumps are another example. I usually go for a more classic stiletto heel but these chunky pumps are so cute!

I have to point out that there’s definitley a difference in quality here–the J. Crew version are calf hair and the Target version are printed fabric.  If you’re looking to make the investment, go for it! But if you’re just looking to test drive the trend, Target’s version will suffice! J. Crew Etta calf-hair pump, $350; Target Merona Meg Pump, $30.

Hope everyone has a wonderuful weekend!

Fashionable Finds

Hi y’all! It’s been a while since I did a fashionable finds post, so here we go!

I’m super lucky and live near an outlet mall [which I love and frequent way too much for my own good]. But I swear I find the best stuff there! My husband and I took last week off to enjoy a week in Outer Banks for our anniversary.  There is a tiny outlet mall in Nags Head so of course we had to make a stop. I only hit two stores so my husband didn’t have to wait forever–one of which was the J. Crew outlet store. [You can access the outlet even if you don’t live near one at factory.jcrew.com].  Here’s what I found:

BUY.THIS.DRESS.

Seriously.

This is classic prep with a twist–velvet dots. It’s long enough to wear to work or church, but short enough to not feel like somebody’s grandma. I plan to wear mine with a white collared blouse underneath and colorful heels (or flats)! Or a dressy oxblood cardigan would be fabulous too!

Factory crystal pendant necklace

This necklace is so gorgeous in person. Of course you could wear it for dressier ocassions, but it would really pop paired with a simple button down (maybe plaid!) .

Factory Straight and Narrow jean

Factory Straight and Narrow jean

These are my tried-and-true favorite jeans. The dark wash, the straight leg, the mid-rise–all perfect for work or play. My office does a lot of casual days, so I have to have jeans that are “presentable”–AKA, not full of rips and holes, too low, too tight, etc. These are made a little longer too so you can wear heels with them.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Splurge Or Save

Splurge Or Save

It’s no secret that I love Target.  On a random grocery run, I noticed this beauty and remarked to my husband that it looked so much like the one from J. Crew.  It’s quite the statement maker, but still elegant and classic. I have eyed the J. Crew bracelet for months but just couldn’t press “add to bag” at that price.  J.Crew classic pave link braclet, $125; Target pave link bracelet, $20.

Wear-to-Work Wednesday

Wear-to-Work

Welcome back y’all! What day is it???? HUMP day! I love that commercial. It makes me smile every time!

While I would love to put together a risk-taking outfit 5 days a week, that’s just not practical for the office. If you’re going to take work-related risks, I don’t recommend taking them with your attire especially if you work in a corporate or conservative environment. I got this comfy top at Target and I know it’s going to be so versatile this season. Express slim leg Columnist pants are my favorite, and I own several pairs of them. The length is just right to wear with heels, and the straight leg is so much more classic than a flare. I got this necklace from Bebe and it is truly an outfit maker. You could throw it on over a simple t-shirt and viola! Insta-outfit. Who doesn’t like an insta-outfit? Add a colorful blazer and booties and you’re set–professional and chic for your workday.

Happy Hump Day everyone!!!

I fell off the blogging wagon again. Sorry guys… Bad blogger! But good news, I’m back AND thanks to a wonderful co-worker I have discovered Polyvore!! As if I don’t waste enough time on Pinterest, now I have a wonderful site that lets me put together all the outfits I want. It’s addictive! One minute I’m sitting down, just to put together one set, I tell myself and the next thing you know–I’ve been on Polyvore for 2 hours! I suppose there are worse addictions.

My blogging downfall is that I don’t always have time to take pictures of my outfits–before they get wrinkled anyway. Polyvore to the rescue! I actually wore this (almost!) exact outfit last week, when the weather was a little cooler. I got this great jacket at Target (still my fave!) . Oxblood is still hot this year, and I love how it classes everything up just a bit! This blouse from Loft is a hard worker too–it’s my go-to for the work week.

I’m happy to be back! Have a great day everyone!
